K&N Recharge Kit =MPG I just bought the kit a few days ago and cleaned my filter. I have had my filter for about 15K miles and have not cleaned it until the other day.
The last few months i noticed a drop in my gas mileage. So i changed my fuel filter and it didnt improve. Then i added LT's and duals and ever since i have been getting about 120 miles to the half tank.
Right now i am at a half tank and i have over 130 miles. So cleaning my filter has gave me about 15 miles more to a tank.
I'm very please with the results and thought i would tell you guys.

a bit off topic but is the recharge kit for the k&n bad for our cars i keep hearing about the oil you put on the filter gets sucked in onto the mass airflow sensor and intake and messes with it, have you noticed anything?

I over oiled my K&N on my old 3rd gen, lol, it looked like Spy Hunter or James bond as I was driving down the road....smoke was bad.
Much more care in subsequent applications, Just spray lightly, check it in a few hours and touch up any dry/white spots.
Also, I don't put the filter back on/drive the car until the filter is plenty dry. That's just asking to have it suck through and coat the MAF sensor-which is the problem with over-oiling.

The trick is to not smother it in oil and then put it back on as soon as you're done spraying it. Clean it, let it completely dry, then lightly coat the underside only (not the side facing up and going toward your TB) until it's all red. Then I let mine sit for about a day or so and put it back in. I've never had any problems with it.

How can you tell how many miles you have done to half a tank?
If I'm at 1/2 a tank, take a trip to work, the guage shows I used about 1/8th tank. Then when I start the car at lunch, I have half a tank again. I think the guage really depends on heat etc, the guage is only a guide, i cant even tell to the nearest 30miles on how much have left. So i dont think its a reliable method for MPG. Perhaps yours is more accurate than mine.

My guage must be more accurate for some reason.

You cannot use the readings on the gas gauge for any sort of reliable measuring. Fill it up, note the mileage. Drive for awhile and fill it up again. Note how many miles have passed and how much gas was put in. Do math. That should tell you the mileage on that gas, that day, that trip.

Hmmm, I guess it's about time I cleaned mine. I got it about 10 months ago, and it's been maybe 6k-7k miles. I don't really ever get a good estimate on gas mileage, since my driving is so erratic. To combat this, I use my gps to cover my gas gauge, so I have to lean all the way forward to read it. I just go by the tripometer, and fill up around 200 miles.
