Default steering hose question

Hey guys, this is for a 62 impala.

I can just have power steering lines made up and bolt them in without any pressure issuses, can't I? There is an aeroquip store that'll make them for me.

I am retaining the stock power assist for now, and am not sure if the pressure of the newer LS1 pump is OK?

Search function no workie, last night or a few minnutes ago.

Some folks on the site say that the increased pressure from the LS1 pump can cause the steering to be rather light but it can easily be remedied by putting a weaker pressure spring in the LS1 pump. It is easy to do, just behind the pressure hose in the pump.

your impala uses the same boxes as the other older GM cars... the steering is slightly lighter, but otherwise, its the same.. as far as i know, noone has had any failures or problems from running the newer pump on the older box.

i would like to know more about this weaker pressure spring... where can i get one? i would like stiffer then stock steering (less assist).. a "heavier" wheel...

My 71 Chevelle is connected to the origina bac and LS1 Pump and so far all is ok.. as everyone stated, just a bit lighter on the effort and feel. May have to look into changing the valve/spring to get back some feel one of these days.. but not biggie for now!

A previous posting on this site suggested taking the old spring with you for comparison and getting a lighter one. Not the most tidy thing to change out a bunch of times but not that bad!
