I am planning on wasting tomorrow morning at the DMV, to figure out what I need to do with a parts car I just bought off ebay. I am in Calif and so is the seller, one of those charity car donation places, so I think legally they have to be a licensed car dealer, which means they have to safety inspect and smog the car. The auction listing says, AS IS, but what I am hearing is in the state of Calif you can't sell a car as is without getting a salvage title first.

Anybody else have experience with this, or getting rid of the chassis after you pull the motor etc? Getting rid of the leftover I hear is easy, just show clear ownership via title or bill of sale at the crusher.
