What I need to go 273 to 342??? Just bought a 96 LT1 Z28 it has 273 gears I want to go to 342 or 373 gears what will I need besides the gears of course. Thanks for the help.

The 2.73's will be mounted on a 2 series carrier that will not hold anything lower than 3.08. To go to 3.42 or lower you need a 3 series carrier or a set of gears designed to go on a 2 series carrier. I beleive richmond sells a 3.73 that will go on a 2 series carrier. I just bought a used 3.42 geared rearend with the axle tubes cut off of it on ebay for $150. That way I have a 3 series carrier and a set of 3.42 gears ready to install.
What ever you do, stay away from the ring gear spacers that people sell to mount a 3 series gear onto a 2 series carrier.
