So i am purchasing a used SS3600 from a guy and he said that tranny he had was broken due to slipping cluches in 3-4. he also said that when he opened it no metal was in the tranny.

i was just wondering what sort of maintenence i should do on the Yank before i put it into my car.

I really don't think there is any maintenance you can do on a converter yourself. IMO you have two choices.

1). Roll the dice and have the converter installed along with a transmission cooler. Yanks are good products and if the converter doesn't have a ton of hard miles on it then most likely it's just fine.

2). Send the converter to Yank and let them open it up and inspect it. This will cost you a few bucks for shipping as well as a few bucks for them looking at it. Then if they find any problems it'll cost you a few more bucks for them to fix it.

While number two is certainly a good idea you have to wonder if all the added expenses added to what you paid for the used converter don't equal or even surpass the cost of a new converter. For $675 I would have to consider passing on a used converter and just buying it new. But that's just me.

Get it inspected... It doesn't have to be yank. Although if you go other than yank you'll lose the warranty.

i would def send the converter back to yank. Dont take any chances with your tranny.

Send it to Yank just for insurance. Plus who knows what abuse that converter has been through in the last year.
