how much should i pay for gears a local guy has some 4.11's i think posi or limited slip i forget he installed them but took them out cause i guess they were maken a howling noise, so i'm thinking he didn't install them right.

For just the gears I would low ball him at 75$ saying that the gears where installed wrong form the git go causing them to whine and create an less than ideal wear pattern that is not fixable. 
Realistically I think a buddie payed 125$ for a set of Richmond 4.10 gears that were new in box for his 10 bolt.
