Heat vs. HP
As engine temps rise how does this affect HP? What is the optimal oil temp and coolant for an LSX motor. I am having a discussion in Corvette forum http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1559595533
When do engine temps oil/coolant threaten engine life and increase wear?
Many thanks!

At first I thought you meant heat in the combustion chamber versus power.
I think that from what I have gathered, the oil temp runs about 30*F warmer than the coolant temp.
I have a manual fan switch and a 1998 Fbody(working H2O gauge) and my car will stay at 185*F all day w/o moving up or down no matter how hard I run it or how hot it is outside.
So does this mean that my oil stays at ~215*?
I don't know, but you corvette guys should since you are the ones with the fancy oil temp gauge in your cars
