I'm in the middle of installing my ls6 intake on my 98Z and I want to know if I should replace the knock sensors since the manifold is off. They're original with 130k but have never thrown a code. The harness to the rear sensor was crushed flat under the manifold also so I wonder if I should replace it. The sensors are only $40 at autozone -if Wells are decent quality.

They don't wear out, but they break VERY easily.

how fragile is the wire harness and connectors - the harness is flattened from the old manifold and the black caps seem pretty loose.

I would replace the wire, pop up the rubber plug which covers the sensors, if they look rusted, I would replace then now, al so you should build a dam around the sensor, I am not sure how to explain how to build the dam , do a search on here for dam around knock sensors
