Help with rear end noise...maybe something else Parked the formula in a parking garage the other night and smelled the faint scent of oil. Later when I took the car home I checked underneath the rear and saw that the diff was leaking a bit so I figured no big deal, it probably needs a new pinion seal.
But here is my real question, sometimes when I let off the gas and am slowing down you can hear a rapid knocking coming from the rear of the car. Pretty faint, you can only hear it if the windows are up and radio is off. It almost seems like interior rattle its so faint but its definately not coming from the inside of the car. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Its annoying the **** out of me. I know this is rough to diagnose over the internet but I was figuring maybe someone has run into this before. This doesnt have anything to do with the differential does it?
