I'm thinking I need to take mine out but not sure what harm purging the AC system would do. I mean, if I purge it, do I have to worry about replacing any compressor oil's or anything other than the R-134a? I'm a complete HVAC no-nothing, please advise.

Best thing is to take it in and have it evacuated by a tech. You can just open the system but you risk injury to yourself and it's illegal and makes a big white cloud of cold smoke. If you take it in they should just charge labor as they would be taking out and putting back in your 134a. Most places charge an hour to evac AND recharge. So you should pay a half hour for each. And no oils or anything else will be needed.

just finished a cam swap not 12 hours ago and i just got my brother and a friend to twist the condenser upwards out of the way, got the stock cam out in about a minute and put the other 1 back in in about a minute.

Thanks a million for the replies. I hate to twist those connections at all, but since several of you have done it without issue, I guess I will too.
Better get some beer and make some calls.
For the record, I hate those connections behind the manifold. I truely hate them. But, I'm looking forward to the end result, I'll try to keep you guys informed.
I'm installing a TSP Magic Stick 4, stage 1 heads, headers/y, electric water pump, all the other stuff you should do with it.
