New guy with new motor
I just picked up a 00 LS1 shortblock with a burned piston. I plan on swapping this into my 89 Formula and would like to run a 12 flat. (Current motor in my car is a 12.76) But since I got the motor for free I need a change.
From the posts I've read the crank should be good for what I am looking for. Are the stock LS1 rods good with new bolts or is there something better? Prob looking for 400 rwhp. Also for heads, what would you recommend. Would stock with a nice cam do the trick? Let me know as I am kinda cluless on these motors lol. Thanks!

Are the stock (241?) heads any good? I see I can pick them up on ebay pretty cheap. Also how about intake. I see alot of folks go the ls6 route, but then I see stock ones go for like 10 bucks.

The car already runs 12.70's but Its time for a change I think. I'm getting sick of the regular SBC. I've done all I can. I even converted the engine managment to that of a 411 PCM. Runs good, but I want differant.
Tranny is a 4L60E that was just built with a 2600 Edge converter. I heard I can get away with useing my 97 tranny with an LS1 with the help of an adapter plate.
