Default Removing smog pump in 73 bird

Any info on this? I can't seem to find much help with my 2ndgen bird. I removed the air line, plugged it, and the engine seems to run a little rougher.

try www.nastyz28.com they are an awesome 2nd gen camaro site. and im sure they can help you wiht your firebird problem too. theres not many people on here who are familiar with cars and setups that old. ive taken off the air pump on every car ive owned and it made no difference. im thinking that there is another hole that missed or the carb is tuned to run with the air pump there and it might need to be adjusted.

EGR valve might be sucking in air, making a vacuum leak. If that makes sense or is possible.

Unlike 3rd and 4th gen, 2nd gen f-bodies can have pontiac powertrains.
