hot cam ? shift point ?
A guy I work with has a M6 z28 with a lt4 hotcam, and bolt ons. He talked to me today because he thinks he has a loose rocker. He told me when he races he shifts it at 7000. To me that seemed a little high a cam the size of the hotcam. where do you think a hotcam should be shifted. where does it peak at? what about the springs that come in the kit wouldn't they valve float by then anyway. I just don't know anything about the hot cam. any info would be appreciated.

i have an m6, hotcam and bolt ons and 7000 is WAY too high. the cam is not that big where it needs to be reved out like that. personally, i shift right at about 6000, theres no point in going higher because its not making any more power past that and the stock internals dont like to go too high of an rpm from what i've heard from everyone on here. as far as where the power peak is, i can't tell you exactly but can tell you it is not even close to 7000.

I figured it would peak in the high 5000 range. But I don't have any experence with the hotcam. And I have never rode in a hotcam car. The cars owner seems to think it is faster if he takes it to 7000. I argued with him some, but didn't want to get in over my head on something i didn't know about. I just couldn't imagine there was any way a cam that small would make power that high.
