LQ9 internals same as LS2 and L92?
I did a search and couldnt find everything. I was looking on SDPC and most of the cam bearings and crankshaft bearings and other bits and pieces said they only had L92 stuff. Is that the same as LS2 and LQ9? Im looking to a build an Iron block version of the LS364/440 carbbed motor but w/ the L92 heads. Thanks in advance.

LQ9 is just a higher output Escalade 6.0 engine, it is based on the Gen III (LS1/LS6) structure. Internal components are generally interchangeable between Gen III and Gen IV however (cams, etc..). Build your iron block with LS1 items and just put the L92 heads on it. They require a 4.00" bore, and will bolt right up.

The LQ9's have a full floating piston & possibly rods to match. If swapping pistons this may be an area of concern. Any 4" piston will fit in there, however you may have to see if they will mate up to the rod(assuming you keep the stocker)

Im starting from scratch so i wont have a crankshaft or anything. So I was wondering if the LS1 crank and connecting rods with a 4" piston will work in the LQ9 with the bearings and everything and does the 58x reluctor wheel bolt to the LS1 crank?

I also noticed when lookin at GMpartsdirect it said that the block comes bored 3.98 and its max is 4.00. I thought the LQ9 was a 4.00 bore? So that means when i order my new block i have to take it to a machine shop and have it bored to 4.00" That seems odd to me.

I just bought a new 6.0 Ironblock 12572808 from SDPC and its bored right on 3.9995 - 4.0005,and as I measured it quickly I may be off a few 10ths. I think they let you know that it may not be right on 4.000. But your going to want to have it power honed when you fit up the pistons if you want good fits & cyl wall finish. I personally don't use any tech info from GMpartsdirect or shop there! The LS2 stock pistons use a low friction ring pack 1.2/1.5/2.5 and good luck finding any aftermarket. I am looking for some now. I don't know if the LQ9 ring pack is the same or 1.5/1.5/3.0, which is easy to find aftermarket if your building a mild mannered daily driver. Pick up the phone and don't be afraid to ask SDPC questions - they got lots of LS stuff.
