Toyota out sells GM in first quarter... what they don't tell you...
Don't know how many of you visit the automotive news section of the site, but usually after I stop in this part of the site that is my next stop (I go up instead of down) and came accross this...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automotive-news-media-press/703490-toyota-passes-gm-sales-recalls.html
It is no secret to my co-workers or friends that I am a diehard GM lover, since birth, it comes from my family. Since I have started looking at cars and paying more interest in them it has turned into not only GM love, but Ford love also, and it seems that everytime something bad happens for one of them it is plastered ALL OVER the media and it is something that my Nissan humping co-worker loves to throw in my face. My dad at the college even gets crap from his students and other co-workers on the same stuff, one teacher even told him "I only pay attention to the big three... Honda, Toyota and Nissan... they are the best, not this American junk!"
When they are presented with facts like above they are baffled and have nothing to respond with. I have heard from more than one people that work with Toyota/Lexus that their quality is slacking and cars that are sold brand new often return for serious problems within a few months after purchase.
/end rant!

People like us who work on these cars know this. The problem is know one wants to hear it.
Honda used to be one of the best and now I would not buy one for that reason. Toyota has fallen a simular fate.
They are experiancing the same down fall the American cars did in the 70s

My god is it ever the truth, I work at a local Toyota dealership as a Tech and as I type this a 2006 Avalon is sitting in my groups area with its engine on the ground next to it. There are three TSB's out right now for oil leaks on these motors and this car is affected by all of them. And no more then three months ago we had an 07 Camry less then six weeks old that we had to replace the shortblock on because it was leaking oil from a casting plug in the block.

Mike and I were musing the other day about the demise of Mazda after coming across (I wanted to drive over the top of) new RX7 whateveritisnow. Ricer right outta the box and someone paid money for it. They used to be "the" commuter car when they first hit the market - simple 626 would get you anywhere with very little gas and a bit of a punch, not a tin can either. Now they look like they would shatter if they hit a small pothole.
I was a diehard Toyota truck fan until this last 02' Tacoma. Its not near as sturdy as my old 86' was and I regret getting rid of that one. Doubt I'll buy a Tundra for a full size truck since they are crap now and way over priced for the supposed quality. I think its hit n' miss with each build.

No really, our economy and Canadas economy are so intertwined, that if one fails, the other will.

Chrysler - a German company masquerading as an American company with plans to start importing cars from China in 2008 - has recalled 77,432 vehicles so far in 2007.
