Default Transmission T.V. cable and accelerator cable off from transmission install

ok, i need some advice, I removed and installed my transmission. the tranny cable and the accelerator cable both are loose. how can these be tightened up. is there a write-up on the adjustment of these cables. I have a 98 T/A and I installed a rebuilt 4L60e. Unfortunatly I didn't tighten down my whatever the long rod is called that drives the rear wheels (the one with the U-joint attached) and it fell out the botum ( what fun that will be). Well if anyone can help with letting me know how I can adjust those cables, and also my gear selector is off (R- is not reverse, it's neutral until i go to neutral then go back to R for example), I think they are tied in together.
