Default 498rwhp Lt1??

Hey Guys,

I have a friend of mine who just don't done putting the knife to his 96 Z

Its now a 383 stroker..has a big cam in it,LT4 heads and Cam w/ porting,I dunno the comp. ratio.Running Shorty headers, ORy,and a 9in w/ 3.73's...

This is a M6 car.

Now,he said he dyno'd 498rwhp w/out tuning...

Now is that possible from an LT1? Esp. w/ shorty headers and a 9in....

He's usualy not one to BS...think the dyno was off?I'm not doubting the LT1's...i just havn't seen too many hit those numbers..LS1's maybe

No way. I call b.s.

Not possible with shorty headers. And also no tuning......no way.

not sure I followed above..are you saying you'd have to have a solid roller cam and an aftermarke PCM?

Anyway i agree with the majority, I'd have to see a dynosheet to believe he did this without a tune and shorties. I cracked 499.84 rwhp n/a with my solid roller 396 on a stock pcm with 7krpm being my limit at the time (last Sep), hope to be closer to 575 rwhp n/a with the changes I'm presently making.

Bottom line it can be done but you "have" to have the "right-stuff" and a stock tune and shorties isn't going to cut it.

I doubt it....
But....there's always a but....I did 482.4 "Uncorrected" and "No smoothing" on. Dyno jet with a locked verter, 12 bolt and Small (236/245 @ .05) HYD roller. Real numbers were 460 SAE smoothing on 5. My not 100% locked verter thru an auto is down over 10RWHP when I had a manual in their...So, it might be possible....Especially, if dyno tricks are involved...No belt, smaller width rear tires with high pressure, barely strapped down rear, Icing the intake...There's some other ones I can't remember too....(don't know if any of them work though)

I'll post my shitty tires breaking lose graph with no correction and smoothing on zero, to help illustrate that when someone throws a number out there, you better get the details of how it was done

VS. a decent graph with SAE correction and Smoothing on (if needed)

I doubt it. We need more info on the build. And is that maybe at the crank?
