Default Hi-beam switch is broken, sort of

I can normally turn on my hi-beams fine, but to turn them off I have to use the tilt, put the wheel all the way up to the top, then as im lowering the wheel click the switch for the hi-beams and hope it shuts them off. Is there anything I can check to see if its loose or anything in the column? Or do I have to replace that turn signal assembly or w/e its called?

Default

I had the same problem in my 96 theres a rod that pushes a button underneath the steering column whenever you pull your switch to turn on the brights, mine got jarred up some how and slipped off of the button and wouldn't go back on because it wasn't long enough so I took some duck tape, taped the end and wha-la I got my brights back on.
