Default Stupid question on Pioneer DEH-P880PRS

When you adjust the sound characteristics (equalizer, loudness, time delays, etc) do those changes get made to the signals coming out of the pre-amps?

I'm guessing that they have to... but I want to be sure. I'd hate to spend good money on a head unit with lots of bells and whistles I can't use because I'm not using the internal amplifier. heh
