So, I'm buying a 2001 Z28 and he told me this..
He said that there is a slight ticking noise in the engine bay. He didn't mention for how long or upon startup....But he said that it may be a light knock or a tick. What could this be? I am thinking a sticky lifter, wouldn't that effect engine performance? Could I just run Seafoam and be fine. I will get more information on how long it has been this way. In the mean time, can someone tell me how bad this could be.

A slight tick is completely normal in these cars. Especially if there are headers on the car it is very common and I could be mistaken but I dont believe that it causes any harm in most cases.

Piston slap is normal, but a tick is not. Piston slap is very common on 01-02s but subsides when the car warms up. And it's not really a tick but a slap.
A tick on the other hand could be many things. Bent pushrod, failing lifter, exhaust leak, etc I would want to know more about it before buying, or adjust the price accordingly.

Ticking or knocking could be a lot of things. I know with the piston slap it sounds like a knocking. Mine has it but if I let it warm up for about 30 sec and take it easy on it, than it totally goes away, just happens when it is cold. GC oil is suppose to help with it from what I have seen on the board and reduce the noise.
