What effects have you seen from changing the rear gear ratio of your car?
Just curious to see what kind of effects people have seen from changing the rear ratio on their car. I've had many different setups (trans and gear) on mine.
My setups were.
6 spd 4.10 Slow spool, had to go to 5th in the 1/4 mile
6 spd 3.42 much faster spool and improved 1/4 times
6 spd 3.50 same as 3.42s
th400 3.50 major traction issues, ok spool but sucked on the highway
th400 2.75 seems to be about perfect now for my mostly street car. 5-6 psi launch = low 1.6x to high 1.5x 60's, faster spool.
It seems that I'm pretty much the odd man out with my rear gear choice of 2.75's. Has anyone else ever tried gearing like this but didn't like it? My main interest is in what track results have you seen from chaging the gearing.
Faster, slower, no difference?
