Default Reverse fork shift pad

When I took my tranny apart to see why it popped out of reverse, the shift pads on the reverse fork fell apart and off the fork. This pretty much explained the problem. I assume this is from 1 or 2 meathead shifts. Can new ones be put on without pulling the reverse gear off or do I need to remove the fork to put new ones on? How do they attach to the shift fork?

They are held on with a small snap ring. You have to remove the gear and slider and then the small gear. Other than that they snap on.

Thanks,
Amber

If the pads were"extruded" as you described the fork may also be bent. I would replace it as well. If the reverse gear clutch teeth are blunted, you better change that too.
