Default Completed E36 GMW.. 1993 357is

Been lurking around this forum for some time.. it's a GREAT source of information! I recently completed my GMW project.. Completed is a relative term as it's a work in process.. but it's been drivable for the last week or so and I ran it in an autocross over the weekend.

The car was originally owned by the Vorshlag guys. I bought it from them a year or so ago and have been wrenching on it on and off.. finally getting it going!

The car has a few purposes.. SCCA Solo 2 competition in the new "XP" class.. DE events. Drifting.. and of course a little street action! Car will be street legal with lights, cat converter, smog inspection, etc.

It's a ton of fun so far.... My previous autocross / track cars have all been BMW powered.... quite the difference going to the LS1 :-)

A friend of mine has been eyeing the exact same swap. Looks like a bit of a tight swap. Any beating need to be done on the tunnel to get the T-56 in?

When we get the videos edited and uploaded you have to post those too, FreezingTexan.

This car sounded so good on course! Whenever the hood (between runs in the grid) was up it drew a crowd. Heard by more than one passerby, "Man, somebody should make a kit for that swap!"

There is actually room to spare in the transmission tunnel. The factory ZF transmission in the M3 is rather bulky so the tunnel was designed with a lot of room to spare. I did have to trim the sheetmetal around the shifter slightly to clear the Hurst that I'm using, but it was no big deal.
