Default Exhaust manifold help NEEDED on home built turbo setup!! (pics inside)

Long story short, I need to know if there are any stock exhaust manifolds you can use dumping forward and up, and still use the coils (mounted on a coil bracket) in the stock location.

I need to dump my exhuast forward and up. The passenger side works great with a Cadillac CTS-V manifold, however the driver's side does not leave a path for the spark plug wire to travel from the coil to the plug. The manifold is just too close to the coils.

Does anybody know if there is a manifold out there that I can setup to dump forward and up on the driver's side, and still use the coils in the stock location?

GOOD PASSENGER SIDE USING CTS-V MANIFOLD:

BAD DRIVER'S SIDE USING CTS-V MANIFOLD

BAD DRIVER'S SIDE USING CAMARO MANIFOLD

I also tried the LS1 and LS2 Corvette manifolds. The older LS1 vette manifolds will not clear my hood, and the LS2 vette manifolds are way too close to the coils.

Any ideas what else might work? I have over half the d@mn stock manifolds for this engine type and none of them seem to be working on the driver's side. Maybe the truck manifolds, GTO manifolds, ImpalaSS/GTP manifolds? Am I forgetting any?

HELP!

Thanks in advance... this really sucks! -Dave

Have you tried ls7 manifolds? I don't know if they will work, but that is another option. Also, perhaps other 5.3L FWD manifolds?

I have not tried LS7 manifolds, and I don't know whether or not they are interchangable with the other LS1/LS2 stuff. The 5.3L FWD manifolds are the ImpallaSS/GTP manifolds, and I have not tried those yet. I was hoping someone would have experience with this so I didn't wind up buying every stock manifold made for the GenIII/IV engines!

I think your best bet would be to mount the coils somewhere else and run custom wires.....it would probably save them from melting even if you found a set to clear them.

i cant see the pics.
the truck manafolds put it up and away from the coils if mounted upside down, only problem in an fbody is they wont clear the shock towers.

could you use a stainless header flange as a spacer to move the manifold out some?

Time, money, and deviating from the stock setup. I am trying to change as few pieces as possible. It seems like every time I change something from stock (like flipping around the exhaust manifolds) something else gets messed up. Relocating the coils will probably be my last resort.

Ahh this is perfect. Is there room for spark plug wires?

Thanks for the pic… that looks too close to the coil mounting location for wires, huh?

i looked all over my computer but couldnt find it
i THINK it clears the plugs better then the ones you showed on the driverside

That’s not a bad idea, however that will create two gasket surfaces rather than one, which will increase the chance of leaks. I’d do it if I only needed another half inch, but I know I need more than that. There has to be a manifold out there with a better shape/design for this application.

Anybody have a nice set of truck manifolds they want to sell me?

I tried both of the C6 manifolds flipped and they don't clear the shock towers either. Good luck...I'd love to have my driver side manifold like that...it would help out a lot.

Yea, fortunately my engine pay gets wider towards the front of the car. The back of the engine bay is pretty tight, but the front leaves lots of room on each side. The problem is just the opposite... the manifolds are too close to the engine (and the coil brackets.)

I thought you can keep stock passenger ls1 manifold and then use reverse mounted truck manifold if you wanna keep A/C and just bend the lines on driver side.

I have a set of truck manifolds. They would need sandblasting as they are off a 100k truck. $50 shipped. Ill check later on the coil clearance with the GXP manifold.

I think people usually use the truck manifolds dumping down and forward, not down and upward like I am trying to do. When going down and forward, I think you lose the A/C and have to relocate the alternator. Is that what you meant?

I think flipping the coils will interfere with the fuel rail?
