How much better are they that just painted ones? I'd like to get some powdercated but should I just save the money and paint them?

Same question. Is it better to get multiple layers of powder coating or is just one enough? Do they need to be cleared afterwords? 2 or 3 coats of clear enough?

For powdercoating, 1 coat is all you need and you don't need a clear.

+1 You only need one coat, no clear. It's more durable than paint, and usually looks more professional.
