Removing A/C Compressor, can I drive w/o it?
I know the compressor has it's own belt so that's in my favor. I'm not for sure what is going out but I need to replace something on it. Can I take my A/C compressor off my car, and be able to drive (to Tx) w/o it??? Will it throw a code or SES light??? Will anything else go wrong or will I be safe??? Please help me, I have to work tonight so I'm not going to be able to work on my car till tomorrow and then I'm driving to Tx Saturday, from Ks. Please help.

Why not remove the belt, but leave the compressor on in the meantime (prior to service)? If you take it off, you'll run the risk of contaminating things between now and when you get a new compressor.

Well I drained my system and at the time didn't know but the compressor will not turn on at all, u know sometimes it cycles. So, guess that's settled.

I took mine off, I cut the belt... Unbolted it, and called it a dad, I do indeed though have an A/C code for it...not sure if LS1 Edit can get rid of that one...
