Default Replacing 5/6 synchro without tranny removal

Anyone ever done this before? It looks like it can be done. I just rebuilt the tranny myself and this is the only sync. I didnt replace, now it wont go into 5th or 6th. I really do not want to have to drop the transmission again.

Dunno about it. Can the 1-2 be replaced from the top?

You will not be able to get the tailshaft housing back on with the trans in the horizontial position.
It was meant to be assembled with it vertical.

The only thing I can think of that will be a problem is the short shift rail. Even when I had the trans vertical, it wouldnt line up by itself. So all I did was use a skinny screwdriver and nudge it so it would pop in the socket of the tailhousing. I dont really see how it would be a problem horizontal.

Yeah we tried it along with about 15 other secenarios. It can not be done without pulling the trans. The reverse has to be removed and so does the 5/6 driven to replace the 5/6 slider.
