Default Starter i think? HELP!

sooo When i shut the car off theres all these horable clunking noises coming from where the starter is also when the car starts(during cranking) you can FAINTLY hear the noise but the car does start and runs vary well. It only does it if the car is about to stall or if i turn the car off any ideas?

check your flexplate also....and make sure the noise is coming from where you say it is...usually a starter will make a different type of sound then a "clunk'
