Default FAST 78 to FAST 90???

Hey everyone, i have been hearing that i can convert my FAST 78 intake to a FAST 90 by just getting the 90mm upper shell, is this true? Or will i be better off just porting the tb/intake? By the way this is going on a 408 from TSP... Thanks n advance!!!

Yes the FAST lower and middle parts are identical on the 78 and the 90. The top is the only part you'll have to replace. Part # 54005

Here is the link from FAST
http://fuelairspark.com/Catalogs/Cur...log/pdf/15.pdf

You can buy it from many vendors but be prepared its about $450
You'll also need the 90 MM TB gasket and possibly a new inner gasket.

Too bad, I sold my 90 MM upper a few months ago for much less than that.

If you do swap please post the results. I couldn't find anyone who had numbers from doing it.

With no other changes the 90 mm top will be worth about 3-5 RWHP. The gragh will be a "lay-over" from the crack of the throttle till about 5K RPM and then the 90 mm intake will slowly ramp higher as it approaches 6K plus and crossing peak HP. It will carry that small advantage (3-5) till redline. The 90 will also offer more SOTP and throttle response....as big a perk (or bigger) IMO than the actual gain in ponies.

If I were you I would sell your 78 and buy the 90....I bet you have less out of pocket by doing that as opposed to forking over almost $500 for just the top.

Hell, for almost the same money I could port your 78 and get you a 10 RWHP gain (much more cost effective) or simply go all the way and have me port your new 90 for a 15 RWHP gain.....now were talking!! (Decisions....decisions!)

Well heres the dilemma, either i can get the whole 90 setup, or i can get a whole set of drag wheels and port the 78, im thinkin the drag wheels and porting the 78 will actually knock off more time at the track! But then agian im afraid that the 78/78 will not support my 408 that is arriving thursday

Save up for the ported 90....it will always bother you that you dont have the larger intake/TB combo when the bigger motor is in the car. Better to put it off awhile longer and get what you really want down the road. In the mean time I would try to find a buyer of your 78 which still works great on a stock displacement build.

Good luck either way
