Default Question on changing throttle bodies

Im doing a h/c install for a friend of mine and he is using some of my old parts.

I have a ported throttle body off of my 98 and he has a 2000 car. I havent been on much since I wrecked my car but I think I remember hearing somewhere that there is a compatability issue between different year tb's? is it something to do with having to chage the tps?

what has to be done?

thanks a lot

I believe the difference in the tb's are the cam? the earlyer ones opened up a little bit faster than the later ones.

swap the cam gear over from his car onto the ported throttle body and it *should* work perfectly then. If you don't want to do that, then you're looking at shortening the throttle cable.

ya the cam's are different on the earlier years... otherwise you will have to make sure the cruise cable and accelerator mate up

all i know is i just got a throttle body from summit 80mm and it supposedly fit ls1 / ls6 applications. i had to change the end plate that that the throttle cable attatches to (2 provided in kit) then because of spacer i had to lengthen the cable which turned out to be easy (thanks teke184 here on the board) my cable had a joint near the trans dip stick you just unclip and the cable adjusts the you reclip. very simple! good luck. hope that helps.

yeah i knew about the 98's having a cam that opened them up quicker...but I didnt think that would cause an issue...but hey if you guys say so.

how hard is it to change over the cam gears?
