Default 1996 Vortech ignition recomendations.

Is there a cheaper way to go to get timing retard control on a Vortech V-2 system than the Crane HI-6R-Map sensor-boost control setup for roughly $700-$800? I bought the car used and I can see where someone tapped into the stock coil harness (probably for the ignition box) and then twisted the stock coil wires back together. My stock coil seems to hold up well to 5800 RPM's or so but is there a way to get timing retard for less cash on this system? Any help would be appreciated since I'm stuck at 13.20 ET's with no retard right now. I need to add a boost guage too to see if that is working well too.

Your best bet is to get lt1 edit and just tune the car properly.

So I can program timing retard with a LT1edit without an external timing controller? Does the factory computer read boost off of the MAP sensor then?
