how can i find out what year a ls1 engine is.

the 97 vette's had the ls1 also

I think maybe he means exaclty what year in 98-02...maybe he just has an LS1 Block and wants to find out what year it came from...

if you have a tb to look at the spring on years 98-99 had a brown spring and 00-02 had a blue spring. then find out which heads are on the engine and narrow down the years by comparing heads and tb.

im looking to find the year of my ls1 . im not sure how to do that can i do it by the numbers ?
