Default 1992 door trim panel

I'm trying to remove the door trim panel from a '92 Firebird. I popped out all the retaining clips and removed all the screws, so now the cardboard backing is completely free, but I can't get the top plastic piece which sits in the weather strip to slide out. I checked a Haynes manual and it said this piece should just lift out, but I've had no such luck. Does anyone have advice?

Thanks,
Cody

I've had a lot of these cars, the window needs to be down. Stand on the inside of the door, and pull the cardboard towards you, with your hands as close to the top(plastic part) as possible give it a quick pop upwards. They are even trickier to get in. Good luck, if you need more help you can always check out www.thirdgen.org they are usually pretty helpful. My s/n there is 88GTA5spd.

Hope this helps,
Gary

There are 3 or 4 "clips" that hold the trim onto the door shell, they can be a pain in the ***. Just be careful to not break the upper trim off the door panel. Try grabbing the upper trim from behind and pulling, that way you minimize the risk of braking it.
Hope that helps
Mark
