Default Hey guys!!! Got some $$$$ TO spend!!

Hey guys!

Alright well from where I sit right now..

I have a 2000 Convertible A4 z28...

SLP Lid
3600 Stall Converter
PCMforless.com Tune
!CATS
STOCK MOTOR 100%

I have 5000 to spend...

I spent around 2500 on a STS kit (Bought it from my buddy.. BRANDNEW!!)

That leaves me with 2500 to spend.........

This is what I was thinking! Let me know if you have better Ideas!

42lb Injectors - $220 (I know people! )
Gauges and Pod - $140 (same as above!)

THIS IS WHERE IM STUCK!!!

I was thinking about putting in a roll cage.. but I dont want to do that yet!

I know I should build my motor, but I am going to do that once this one goes KABOOM!!!

I would like to get a set of 6.0l heads and an intercooler.....

That would be right around 1100 dollars...

I just dont know.. let me know what you think!

you need to do something internal....your not going to be able to keep those stock pistons and raise that boost alot, so you need to be thinking about that, id get some new rods and pistons...something that would go good with that kit...

You really need stronger pistons, rods, springs, bolts, ect. May as well just get a forged 347 shortblock from a well known engine builder like LME or SDPC. Then you can handle some decent boost. But the 4L60E is going to die quicker then a jack rabbit on a date. You'll want to upgrade to a stage 4/level 4 4L60E from a solid tranny builder like FLT, rossler or performabuilt. If you have 3.23's then you also have an aluminum driveshaft. If that's the case then you may want to upgrade that to a steel one.

Once the motor and transmission are good you need to look at suspension upgrades. SFC, TA, LCA & rear sway bar are a few off the top of my head that should get replaced for big power applications. If you drag race this bad boy with sticky tires then odds are the 10 bolt will fail sooner or later under that much power (even through an auto). 12 bolt or 9" will then be on your Xmas list.

And of course you'll need a 6 point roll bar or 10 point cage (depending on whether your goals are 9's or 10's) and neither are cheap to buy and have welded in. When it's all said and done you could easily have spent another $10,000 - $20,000 on necassary upgrades.

To start with I would get the forged shortblock so you can sell the stock one. Save that money to go towards the built 4L60E and go easy on the car until you get it.

It's a long expensive road. I know because I bought a 416 SB with a healthy heads/cam package. I have 10K invested with at least another 6K-10K to go before I can even drive the thing.

Good luck.

+3 for internals. It will really let you get a lot more out of the turbo.
