Default gear question

what size gear would someone recomend for a stock auto trans in a 99 ta? keep in mind this is my everyday driver, but i do love to run at the track on weekends. she is pulling down 8.80s in the 1/8, but i want to get her down to the low 8's- high 7's. any suggenstions?

3.73....i have the exact same car....not so much stock though

my rev limiter is actually set pretty low....6300 rpms right around there...i can still do 140+

3.73 is the standard with an auto. For your goals I would suggest a 3200,3800 Vig or yank converter. Watch your 8.8's drop to 8.2s,8.1s with drag radials . Do you have 2.73 or 3.23 gears in the car? If 3.23's then the stall would be 10 times better for you than gears at this point

3.70s here Get that stall and 3.73s and maybe some LCAs.I think that would wake up your ride quite a bit

I have 3.42's and wish i went 3.73's night and day difference.
