Default Anyone running a S-trim?

Thinking of droping my comp down to 10-1 and bolting on a S-trim I have with a front mount intercooler. I'm affraid the blower is way to small for my 402. Opinions?

The S-trim is MUCH bigger than a G trim. There has to be someone running one.

I ran a T on a 418. It made 13 lbs. with the aftercooler & 11 through the FMIC. I would expect a couple lbs. less with an S. Your combo sounds like it's pretty high flowing so I would expect even less, I know someone who has a T for sale.

I read from Vortech that the S is good for 20lbs of boost. If I don't run the S I will just buy a buddies spare YSI.

The S-trim might be capable of 20# of boost on a 3 litre motor, but it maxes out around 680fwhp (according to Vortech). The most I could get out of mine on a 383 was 7.2# after the FMIC, but it put down 501rwhp through a big 4L80E tranny.

This weekend I am firing up the T-trim replacement!

Since your already in the 9's I would say you need at least a YSi.

I run an S-Trim but I only have a stock LS1 with cam. Seems like Ysi would be more up your alley. S is a 1000 cfm, T is 1200 cfm, Procharger D1-SC is 1400 cfm, seems like Ysi 1600 cfm or Procharger F1 would be a better match for you.

Well if I spray the car I think it's 8.70 capable. I think with the S-the car would go 9.4's on E85 with mufflers all day long. So I gues to get to the spray level it would need a YSI. Or a F2R!!!!

For 8's you need a YSi, X, or F1_.

LJ was pulling right at 140 mph in the quarter in a heavy car using an S-trim several years back. He was only running about 12 psi, while slightly over-speeding the blower. Go here and click on "timeslips", then "9.94 at 139.1":

http://para.noid.org/~lj/

It was a 383.

Though. . . all I could get was 133 mph from my T-trim making 13 psi through an aftercooler on a 383...

I would think you would need around 145 if your car was like 3200 raceweight? T-Trim is rated for 825hp, and YSi is rated for 1200hp. Thinking about it, a T-Trim would run 8's, YSi's have been going 8.4-8.6's in Renegade and Drag Radial Mustangs.

Yea, the S-trim is rated at 680 fwhp, but I'm sure Jeff was around 750. The T-trim is rated at 825 fwhp, but 925 fwhp has been proven on a dyno on a stout 402 SBC.

My raceweight is 3150 and the car makes 504rwhp on motor through my Th400 and 12 bolt. I'd lose 40-50hp by droping 4 points of compression but what would I get back max effert out of the S-trim? maybe 650rwhp?

I think you would need at least a T-Trim or ProCharger equivalent, that S-Trim is too small for your engine.

I've heard of folks getting close to 600 rwhp from an S-trim through an auto. Not too sure about 650. . .
