Default new Light weight hood mod!

I have a friend that builds drag race cars and he came up with the idea of taking apart the stock hood (ss/ws6) and relaminating the underside. This way the hood will lose about half the weight and can still use stock latch or pins. Now there is also the 3lb race hood, I like it but has no scoop (Z28 look). Has anyone try anything like this or has a better idea?

The 3lb was made on the 01" orange camaro (Rob G) that just set a new world et record in his class. Bill at Altered Customs built the car and I was at his shop and he showed me a 1 piece carbon fiber hood, it was all zues on. I can't remeber the name of the the company of hand (***** beeker) or something! the one on rob's car is a little longer 6" but I lifted it with one hand!

well on another note...i looked at taking the support stuff out from under the hood. but i think that if you do it becomes to flimsy.
