Default clinkin noise

I just picked up a 99 z28 and when i put it into to gear and right when it starts to go there is a reall high pitch clink and tick i don't know to exactly explain it. But it also does it when downshifting and a little bit when i get on it a little bit. Just trying to see if anyone as had any similar problems. Just changed the u-joints so i know there good. help would be apreciated.

Ah well then I don't know how much help I can be, but I have the same problem as you. Does it go away after you shift a few times/ when the car warms up? I have an A4, but from what I've read and been told, this isn't a transmission issue. A lot of people have said that it's the drive shaft wearing down or making poor linkage with the differential and that a common fix is to replace the drive shaft with one of stronger or higher quality build.

Sorry that I can't be of more help, but I'm sure there are some people here who know what's going on. This is a common problem, I know that much.
