Default newbee question(oil pan)

i have a 04 gto that im pulling the engine out of and i was wondering why is it that the oil filter is on the front of the engine unlike the f body?

so would a f body oil pan fit in the gto motor?

It will fit the motor but you couldn't put it in the car. I've never had a problem with the front sump setup. Why do you wanna run a f-body or rear sump pan? If your that worried theres always a dry sump out there for you. My car picks the wheels up and has never had a problem.

well is because im installing the gto ls in f body, by the way is there any power difference in the 04 gto ls and the 02 f body?

You will need a pan and a pickup from a f-body then. And no I beleive its the same engine other than that some gto's had ls6 blocks in them.
