Default Initial Impression of Spec 4 clutch

I am surprised to find that my new Spec 4 (solid hub, six-puck) clutch doesn’t chatter or grab like I was led to expect. I can engage the clutch at idle and smoothly pull away from a stop. I haven’t been to the track since installing the Spec but there are several reports here of Spec 4s surviving more than 200 6k launches, which is why I decided to try this clutch. I just want others to know that a hardcore racing clutch isn’t necessarily intolerable on the street.

Dont drive it like stock, it will burn up. I had a friend who like it very but, it was like an on/off switch. That clutch will survive clutch dumps, but not over excessive slips.

I just pulled out my Stage 4 to replace it with a stage 3+. Stage 4 was good but my slave started leaking and ruined it. I found the Stage 4 drove like any other clutch. No Chatter, no shudder. I wouldn't call it a hardcore racing clutch just because it is unsprung.

Anyone who noticed the cam in my sig would know why a stage 4 seems hardcore to me.

I haven't got to drive it yet. I was just getting the tranny back in and I cracked the body of my BRAND new slave probably because the shim was not centered so I am waiting for another new slave to arrive. I'll post my critique on the Spec 3+ in the next few days.
