Default 1.8 rockers?

Would it be worth putting 1.8 rockers on a stock motor? May be a dumb question but was looking for more ponies without going into the motor, have a lack of knowledge with the inside of the motor! Thanks!

Its not a "bad" upgrade. You get better quality rockers (if you go with something like the Yerra Tell ones) and a little more lift (more power).

Most people (including me) feel that the cost to power gain is not really worth it. The rockers cost close to as much as a new cam and you don't get NEAR the power of a new cam. Also, high ratio rockers are not supposed to be used with most aftermarket cams (ex: TR 224). If you ever decide to change the cam, you have might have to get rid of the $500 rockers.

You just need to decide if the cost is worth not having to open up the engine. I would say if you want more power, change the cam or go with some form of power adder (SC or Turbo). Its not hard to change a cam. There are a number of step by step write ups on head/cam swaps. It just takes time to do (weekend or so).

I'm running 1.85 SLP rockers and got a noticable power increase on a supercharged 5.3 truck engine.

I wouldn't use those rockers with stock springs. The stock springs have very little extra available lift.

Now if your friend can get them for cheap, then they might be a good investment.

Larry is right. You will need to change the springs if you use those. The stock springs are not even very good for the stock cam/rocker ratio.

Does anyone know if he could use the LS6 springs with those rockers?
