Default Camshaft

I just bought my first LS1 car and I love it. I have been running big block chevys for a while and and decided to make a change. My question is how much lift will these motors take before there is a P to V problem. I am going to run the victor intake and carb. setup. I also want to run around 106-108 lobe sep. I have been told all kind of different things from .560-.620 any info would be great thanks.

Duration is going to play the biggest role in piston to valve clearance. A MS4 from Texas Speed is supposed to fit without any fly cuts and it is a 239/242 @ .050 with .649 lift on the intake and .609 on the exhaust. There is even bigger than this but it just depends on how safe you want to be. Congrats on getting the LS1 and good luck!

Thanks for the info. I have one more question. My camero is a 98 z (w) a 6 speed and it runs 7.90s at 89 mph. The guy I bought it from says it all stock with a couple of bolt-ons. I know it has 1"3/4 long tube headers, cold air box, MSD wires, and the tranny has been fitted with a SLP clutch setup and Z06 flywheel. The only thing that I have done is put a set of 27/10.50 et streets. I was woundering if the car is in the ballpark for the things it has.

Good air and driver that sounds about right. Maybe a little on the quick side; but I'm and A4 so I might be off a little.

Well I am happy with it. I was just woundering if the motor was one of those freak engines because back in the day it took some some gas or head and cam mods to get a lt1 car to do the same. I bought the car to have a clean racecar. I live in Houston and we do alot of index racing as well as street racing. Now days everone we run with has a 700in motor or bigger and it is hard to compete, so I wanted to try something different. The ls1 is really impressive. Thanks guys
