Default stock manifolds or pacesetter lt's?

i have a 2000 ls1, some guy told me not to get headers and keep stock manifolds because of back pressure and i will get more tourqe from stock manifolds, is this true? i dont think so, but im just making sure. thanks

Without a tune, Yes in lower RPM's but a tune can help you with the loss and will help you pull even more power out of it. When I put my LT's and catback on I noticed a slight drop in power under 2500 RPM's but after that it's like night and day the extra power I got.

Since you are stock, many other bolt-ons I would do first = See sig., my next mod will be LT with Cam and tune. I have gone 12.40s without LT headers, looking to get into 11's full weight w/ cam.

I'd definitely get LT's and a tune.

I had heard that and was a little concerned about it. With my LT's, I ended up not losing any low-end torque and probably gaining a little. They feel really good at part-throttle around town. So far I haven't gained much overall performance with them, though. The jury's still out on whether they were worth the hassle and expense.

Along the same lines, my buddy's car with Pacesetters/ORY would run neck and neck to mine with manifolds/cats. The cars are both 2000's with very similar mods. I don't think he saw a lot from them.

On the "backpressure myth," read this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/advanced-engineering-tech/767045-back-pressure-torque.html
