Hotrockers w/variable lift
Has anyone tried these http://www.hotrocker.com/ ? Looks interesting, but IŽd think it was a tuners nightmare.

Re: Hotrockers w/variable lift
IMHO, that stuff looks like a claptrap and I'd never stick it on a vehicle.
For a tow vehicle like my Suburban, that shifts at 4200 RPM, it'd probably be OK. Performance vehicle? I think they'd be broken to pieces after one pass. Now, I'm a gadget guy, but there's no way I'd stick all that junk on my Suburban. I'd rather just get a cam and roller rockers and be done with it. Less expensive, less likely to leave you kicking rocks on the side of the road.
Just my $.02.

Re: Hotrockers w/variable lift
Its not a "bad" idea at all. The ability to have low lift at low rpm (good port velocity) and then to have high lift at high rpm would be a very nice option. Though having that big electric motor sticking out the top of your valve cover does look really bad.
The question is wheather or not the "current techknowlagy" (produced in that price range) will hold up to the stress. I'm sure if money was no problem ($100 mill to work with...) the parts could be built out of space age materials and would never brake.

Re: Hotrockers w/variable lift
Mercedes had a variable lift pushrod motor in, 1911 I believe. They accomplished it in another manner though.
I'd hold off on the hotrockers untill a couple other ppl tried them in the "real world."
