how do i find out what carrier i have ?????

Default how do i find out what carrier i have ?????

i have a 97 trans am. ok i bought richmond 3.73 gears and now im trying to sell them but the guy how is buying them wants to know if its for a 2 or 3 carrier. i didnt know they where differnt gears.

The 2 series carrier takes the "thick" gears. All 2.73 geared cars were 2 series. Anything above (IE. 3.23, 3.42) are 3 series. If you have a GU2 code in the glove box then you have a 2 series carrier. Did you buy these gears for your car and not use them? Check your glove box code, Autos will have GU2 or GU5 I think. The gears should say also maybe. Check the part number on the internet and it should tell you.

yeah i bought them and was going to put them in but i ended up buying a 10 bolt with new gm 4.10 and welded axels so now i have to sell them
