Default steering help!

When I go to make a turn in my 98 TA. The steering wheel jerks every other couple inches. It does that one way and then the other way it's just kinda stiff to turn. What could this be. Im praying that it's not in the rack but I was hoping it could need the steering fluid flushed out and replace or have another steeringpump since that wouldnt be to hard.

Thanks to all who reply!

I would replace the power steering pump.
