Default VFN WS6 Hood Question?

I got a WS6 hood from VFN. The fit it nearly perfect!

Also, I searched for this all over the place and there is not ONE real answer on this board. What do I do about my struts? They want to tear the hood in half, and people say it's ok. VFN told me to replace them for lighter struts, but nobody sells them, and I don't know what to get anyways. I was also told you can modify them, but how would I do this?

Thanks everyone.

get some Camaro SS struts, not Z28! or some WS-6 Struts......thats what the shop installed when i got my SS hood because the old struts were too hard to push the hood down and I have seen people with vfn hoods cause stress due to using stock steel hood struts......there are usually some SS struts on ebaymotors

Well I just got off the phone with SLP and they informed me that the SS struts are no different than the Z28 struts. They said they manufactured all of their hoods to work on a factory strut for a steel hood. He then went on to tell me that years ago, probably the LT1 car, there was a difference between the struts. These have been out of production and are no longer used.

He said that there is no a specific strut to be used for a lighter/thiner hood.

I guess I need to explore the option of modifying my factory struts. This is getting to be a lot of fun!

Not that different, the struts or lifts are the same and do not vary.

I would trust SLP over pretty much anyone since they actually converted the cars over to fiberglass hoods.
