Default Want to be sure on buying a 3 channel 96 rear end for my 01 bird

Someone near me is selling a 1996 bird rear end w/ 4.10 gears 3 channel abs, my car is a 01 bird w/ stock 2.73 with traction control and ABS my understanding is I can use it right? Or is it not possible? I tried to read the faq and by what I understand I just use my axles right? can someone clarify it for me? Thanks a bunch !

Yes it will work. Just swap over your axles, backing plates and brakes.

it will work.. with a SMALL modificaton. The backing plates will NOT fit onto the read end, without cutting some notches in it. See the write up i did a few weeks ago: http://www.geocities.com/duragizer444/install.html#trac

Also, you will need to find some way to plug the hole on the top of the pumpkin when switching from 3ch to 4ch. I personally used a quarter and some RTV and just glued it on there. Never had a problem with it.

Let me know if you have any questions, as i just got done doing this.
