largest cam on stock converter

Default largest cam on stock converter

i know this sounds stupid but i am doing a head and cam swap and i am going to change the converter a couple weeks after i do the swap but i was wondering if i went with something like a comp 224/230-581/588 lift would that stall out on a stock converter???if so what cam would u pick thanks

What do yuo mean by "stall out on a stock converter"? I think you mean will the engine not run properly and the PCM has to compensate for the low stall.... if so then the answer is yes, the engine controller will most likely try to adjust the idle speed when it goes into gear.

But a good tuner can work with that condition.

Why not wait and do it all at once then get the package tuned properly?

yeah u got it right well i dunno i think im gonna because it was between nitrous kit and torque converter and i know the converter is very important but idk im just rushin ****

I know 2 people who run the MS4 on stock converters.....by no means is it normal sock driving but it can be done.

Yea by no means should you install a cam best suited for a converter that you're going to change in a few weeks. In fact it's pretty dumb to choose a cam based on converter even if it was a high stall.

yeah im gonna go head and fork out the money and do a yank 3600 i know it would be a smart thing to do before the swap
