Um, not sure what you mean, but the alternator should put out around 13-14 volts to keep the battery charged properly.

it almost happened to my honda the next day after i installed a worldclass alt. i started my car the morning after and the radio just started smoking and quickly died. i thought it was a bad install untill i pulled the fuse and the head light blubs blew. by time i found it was the alt over-charging the battery was smoking and had bludged on the sides.

hmmm... odd....

I used to be involved in stereo competitions and had a custom aftermarket alternator built for my system that pumped out 222 amps... never had any issues like this... The guy that built it said it was the largest/most powerfull one he had ever built...
